This is a tutorial on how to create a texture
in photoshop to use in Bryce or 3D Max so that you get
some nice looking terrain when you use your distortion
filters in either of these 3D programs. To create a terrain
texture distortion map that will be used for your terrain,
first make a new file with about 200X200 size. Fill your
background color with black and then select the airbrush
and pick white for the color. Here is my illustration
below. Note that the more intense the white color is the
higher your moutain peeks will be. I hope it makes sense...
If you would like to create a more sophisticated terrain,
create a bigger file and make those hills all around the
map, just play around with it and you will come with some
really nice terrain.
